Optus revamps remaining plans

UPDATED | After the successful release of its Fusion broadband and phone bundles, Optus will now make over the rest of its plan line up.
Due to be released next month, the new plans will cover ADSL1, ADSL2+ and cable, and will feature new shaping speeds. No off-peak data bonus will be available this time round, however.
The plans will feature data limits of 200MB ($34.99), 1GB ($49.99), 15GB ($69.99) and 30GB (109.99), with a $10 discount for bundling, as well as "free months" deals for long contracts.
Optus caused some controversy with its Fusion plans, as it was the first time the telco decided to count uploads as well as downloads towards quota usage. The only other major telco doing this is Telstra BigPond. Optus told The Australian that it was prompted by "a huge growth in the use of multimedia devices in the hands of customers which give them the ability to create and distribute their own content".
Sources close to Optus told Whirlpool that the new plans will also count uploads. Existing customers on older plans will not be affected, however.
The new plans also feature new shaping speeds, with Optus finally doing away with the crippling 28Kbps cap. The new throttled speeds will be 64Kbps or 128Kbps for high end plans.
Optus will also offer 8Mbit/s ADSL1 plans for the first time, with the higher speed attracting a $30 premium over the 1.5Mbit/s pricing.
